Haier Group, a leading Chinese consumer electronics and home appliances company, needed a storage solution for its next-generation tablet PCs. The company was challenged by a shortage of small form factor HDD options, along with concerns about durability and high power consumption. It turned to Seagate and the Seagate Ultra Mobile HDD for its 13-inch tablet PC project.

Seagate’s 5mm Ultra Mobile HDD, with a 500GB capacity, zero-gravity sensors, and low-power modes, was selected as the exclusive HDD for Haier’s Sailing P13A tablet. The result was a slim, rugged, high-capacity storage option that delivered up to 7× more storage than a typical 64GB tablet drive while supporting better battery life and a significant cost advantage over flash storage.
