Nexenta Uses Seagate Enterprise Performance 10K HDD for VDI Solutions

Nexenta faced a common virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) challenge: unpredictable, spiky I/O demand from login storms and mixed application use was slowing response times and hurting productivity. To address this, the company turned to Seagate’s Enterprise Performance 10K HDD for VDI storage, alongside NexentaConnect, to better support performance-sensitive desktop virtualisation environments.

Seagate’s solution paired its high-performance 10K HDDs with NexentaConnect’s integrated storage and compute platform for VMware Horizon View, helping simplify deployment and improve VDI efficiency. The results included up to 2x higher write and 8.5x higher read throughput, up to 1.5x higher write and 4.4x higher read IOPS, latency reductions of up to 77% for writes and 82% for reads, and up to 72% higher VSImax density.
