A Seagate Case Study
BlueStar Technologies, a Beijing-based maker of digital video surveillance devices and software, needed a more reliable hard drive solution for its SDVR systems. Its customers, especially in banking and other mission-critical environments, required 24x7 operation, but BlueStar faced challenges with overheating, shock resistance, inconsistent drive recognition, and mixed-brand hard drive instability in compact multi-drive chassis.
BlueStar implemented the Seagate Surveillance HDD for its SDVR products, gaining higher reliability, better compatibility, lower power consumption, and reduced heat output. The results included fewer drive-related complaints, improved customer confidence, and measurable savings: a Guangzhou China Construction Bank deployment of 600 SDVRs and 4,000 Seagate drives cut electrical power consumption by 10% and lowered internal temperatures by 3 to 5°C.
