Samsung SDS Migrates to Scylla for Higher Performance and Easier Maintenance

Samsung SDS, a global IT services and solutions company, faced performance and scalability limits with its relational database layer while building systems for manufacturing, IoT, communications and healthcare. Seeking high throughput, consistent low latency, easy deployment/maintenance and lower cost than their Oracle DBMS, Samsung SDS evaluated NoSQL options and selected ScyllaDB (Scylla) after a proof-of-concept.

ScyllaDB was deployed across multiple use cases and delivered measurable gains: in Samsung SDS’s POC ScyllaDB achieved three times better throughput and latency versus Cassandra, offered autonomous maintenance and responsive support, and enabled significant cost savings compared with their prior solutions. As a result, Samsung SDS is rolling out ScyllaDB broadly and preparing a Scylla managed service in the cloud.
