Case Study: Investing.com achieves low-latency real-time finance delivery and halves cluster size with ScyllaDB

A ScyllaDB Case Study

Preview of the Investing.com Case Study

Investing.com Delivers Real-Time Finance Data Application to 11 Million Unique Monthly Visitors

Investing.com, a global financial portal serving about 11.6 million monthly unique visitors, relied on a three–data-center Apache Cassandra 2.1 deployment to deliver real-time market data and charts. They faced unpredictable latency spikes and JVM garbage-collection pauses of up to six minutes that degraded user experience, so they evaluated ScyllaDB as a Cassandra drop-in replacement.

Investing.com deployed a ScyllaDB 1.2 cluster in parallel (dual-writing new data and migrating historical data), then migrated site components gradually using the same drivers for a smooth transition. ScyllaDB eliminated the latency and GC issues, improved latency and hardware utilization, and enabled Investing.com to reduce cluster size by half; Cassandra is retained only for Counters until ScyllaDB adds that feature.
