A ScyllaDB Case Study
GumGum, a global media company behind the Verity contextual intelligence platform, needed a better way to power its Tally ad-server backend, which was originally running on Cassandra. The system had to handle high-scale ad serving and counting for impressions, clicks, revenue, and video activity, but Cassandra was costly, operationally heavy, and struggled under load.
GumGum moved Tally to ScyllaDB Cloud, taking advantage of ScyllaDB’s Cassandra API compatibility and managed service model to avoid major application changes. With ScyllaDB, GumGum reduced its cluster from 51 Cassandra instances to 30 ScyllaDB instances, cut staff overhead, and achieved a better-performing global data system, with the company citing a major win in cost and efficiency.
