Case Study: Girbau Group improves folding machine efficiency with Sculpteo 3D printing

A Sculpteo Case Study

Girbau Group cuts air pressure from 5.5 bars to 4 with Sculpteo

The Girbau Group, a manufacturer of laundry equipment, faced the challenge of redesigning a critical part within its folding machines. They needed to create a component with small internal cavities to withstand high pressure while maintaining a competitive price point. To achieve this, they partnered with vendor Sculpteo and utilized their LCD 3D printing service with Ultracur3D® EPD 1086 resin material.

Sculpteo's solution enabled Girbau to optimize the part's internal geometry, creating precise channels for airflow. This redesign, which integrated multiple functions into a single compact piece, reduced the required air pressure from 5.5 bars to 4 bars. The results for Girbau included lower air consumption for a more sustainable machine, a significant reduction in operational noise, and a cost-effective production process that would not have been feasible with traditional manufacturing methods.
