Blackfoot's Herding Cats launches an IP67 cat tracking collar in record time with Sculpteo

The customer, Blackfoot's Herding Cats, faced the challenge of creating a lightweight, flexible, and waterproof behavioral tracking collar for cats that would be well-received by the animals. To manufacture this product, they partnered with the vendor Sculpteo and utilized their Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) 3D printing service.

Sculpteo's solution involved using SLS PA11 to create a strong, durable, and waterproof main case, alongside TPU for the soft collar parts. This allowed for rapid prototyping of a high-quality product that met the required IP67 standard. According to a senior product designer, Sculpteo enabled them to bring the product to fruition in record time and on a reasonable budget, creating prototypes comparable to injection-molded parts for testing and investor presentations.
