Case Study: Artha improves sensory guidance for visually impaired users with Sculpteo 3D printing

A Sculpteo Case Study

Artha improves lumbar belt design with Sculpteo, printing 120 hinges as one durable TPU part

Artha, a company developing assistive technology for the visually impaired, faced challenges in creating a comfortable and durable sensory lumbar belt. Their initial design, made with FDM printing, required assembling many small parts, which was time-consuming and resulted in a product with a limited lifespan that could cause user discomfort. They partnered with Sculpteo to improve the product's resolution, comfort, and production speed.

Sculpteo's solution involved redesigning the belt's hinges as a single, flexible part using Multi Jet Fusion technology and Ultrasint® TPU 01 material. This eliminated assembly, increased durability, and improved comfort. With the help of Sculpteo Studio's design services, Artha accelerated development through rapid iterations. The result was a more robust product with superior resolution for accurately conveying environmental information to the user.
