Cinergy makes significant digital signage saving with Screenly Pro and Ubuntu Core

Cinergy, a Texas-based entertainment center operator with cinemas, bowling, dining, and other attractions, needed a lower-cost, easier-to-manage digital signage solution as it expanded. Its existing Apple TV setup created high hardware costs, significant IT overhead, and delays in updating marketing content, making it difficult to push fast-moving promotions and movie information.

Cinergy implemented Screenly Pro, running on Ubuntu Core, to power its digital signage across more than 40 devices. Screenly’s locally cached content, remote management, and Ubuntu Core’s secure transactional updates helped improve reliability and security while reducing management effort. The switch delivered about $50,000 in savings, and Cinergy’s marketing team can now update screens in minutes instead of days, with plans to scale to many more devices.
