Urban Dwell - Customer Case Study

Urban Dwell, led by Tom McMahon, is a Washington, D.C. home decor and gift shop founded in 2015. As a retired U.S. Air Force veteran with limited startup business experience, McMahon needed help finding the right location, securing a storefront, and navigating the leasing process for his new business. SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty provided the guidance and mentoring support he needed.

With help from SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty, McMahon identified the ideal location, built a relationship with his future landlord, and negotiated a favorable lease with support from his leasing agent, lawyer, and SCORE mentor. The result was the successful launch of Urban Dwell, which later earned Outstanding Veteran-Owned Small Business at the 2017 SCORE Awards.
