The Australian Walkabout Inn Bed & Breakfast, owned by Lynne Griffin in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, faced a decline in bookings and increasing competition from more than 150 local B&Bs, as well as alternative lodging options like Airbnb. To help address the challenge, the inn worked with SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty and mentor Jerry Glenn to improve its marketing approach and stand out in a crowded market.

SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty recommended a new website with professionally taken photographs and helped Griffin rethink how the inn was being promoted. After implementing these changes, The Australian Walkabout Inn Bed & Breakfast finished 2015 with a 10% increase over 2014, and first-quarter 2016 bookings were up more than 20% compared with first-quarter 2015.
