Teatopia, founded by Reginald Quarles in St. Louis, Missouri, wanted to create a peaceful tea shop but lacked a business background and needed help finding a location, developing a business plan, and understanding the financial side of the business. SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty provided guidance through SCORE’s business blueprint, classes, and one-on-one mentoring.

With support from SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty mentor Richard Toman, Quarles stayed accountable during the search for a store location and built a stronger plan for Teatopia. SCORE also helped him find a reputable accountant, which enabled him to manage payroll and plan for growth; as a result, Teatopia opened in 2017, now offers about 150 teas, and is preparing to expand online and into other major cities.
