Starseed Bakery - Customer Case Study

Starseed Bakery, founded by Linda Beg in Rockaway, New Jersey in 2013, was created to address concerns about food safety and the prevalence of toxic pesticides, GMOs, and allergens. The bakery produces wholesale and retail baked goods that are gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, and made without genetically modified ingredients, while seeking guidance on how to grow the business sustainably.

SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty helped Starseed Bakery at each stage of development by connecting Beg with experts in the areas she needed most and providing ongoing mentorship and follow-up. With support from SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty, the business grew from Beg’s home kitchen into a dedicated gluten-free production facility with room for expansion and retail sales, and it earned the 2015 SCORE Awards Outstanding Green Small Business Award.
