SLOFLY - Customer Case Study

SLOFLY, based in San Luis Obispo, California, was founded by Doug Barden in 2016 as an apparel store focused on “hyper local” merchandise that lets locals show their community pride. As a new small business, Barden needed guidance to turn the concept into a viable store and navigate the path from idea to opening. SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty provided mentoring support through SCORE.

SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty, through mentor Scott Hillis, worked with Barden virtually from the store’s earliest planning stages through its grand opening in September 2017. The result was a highly successful launch, with SLOFLY becoming so popular that Barden said it became challenging to keep merchandise on the shelves, showing strong customer demand and early business traction.
