SiLAS - Customer Case Study

SiLAS, founded by Chris Dudick in Fair Haven, New Jersey, develops avatar-based software to help children on the autism spectrum build social and communication skills. To secure funding and continue developing its product without taking on bank debt, the company needed a strong business plan and grant application support. SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty helped guide that effort.

SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty mentors Gene Wolf and Tony Payer worked with Dudick to develop and refine the business plan and connect him with former colleagues for additional feedback. Using that support, SiLAS submitted a stronger NSF Small Business Innovation Research application and was awarded a $225,000 Phase 1 grant in December 2016, with the possibility of up to $750,000 more in Phase 2 funding.
