Project Being There - Customer Case Study

The non-profit customer, Project Being There, was founded by Tracy Foster to provide aid to a Vietnamese orphanage and needed to establish a formal 501(c)(3) organization to raise funds. They turned to the vendor, SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty, for assistance with the legal certification process and to develop a foundational business and marketing plan.

SCORE counselor Chuck Christiansen helped the group successfully file for their non-profit status and create the necessary strategic plans. As a result, Project Being There raised $14,000 in its first two years, funding critical orphanage improvements in water filtration, sanitation, and health. The publicity from their work led to a feature on NBC Nightly News, which significantly increased donations and volunteer support. SCORE's guidance was credited with providing the solid business foundation that enabled this success and growth.
