Mary’s Pet Shuttle & Services, LLC, founded by Mary Stegmann in Glen Spey, New York, needed help turning a pet transportation idea into a viable business. After working at an animal shelter and being laid off, she wanted to serve elderly pet owners and busy families who needed help getting pets to vet, grooming, licensing, and other appointments. SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty provided support through its online and in-person classes, along with mentorship.
SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty helped Stegmann build a foundation in taxes, business strategy, marketing, and startup planning. Mentors Bob and Carol Vakiener also provided encouragement during a difficult personal time before launch, helping her stay confident and on track. The result was a successful business launch in September 2017, with Mary’s Pet Shuttle & Services now offering pet shuttle, pet sitting, licensing assistance, and emergency transportation services.
