Jonas Marc Style Studio, led by Kathy Marcus, is a Myrtle Beach, South Carolina salon that grew out of Marcus’s experience in cosmetology and massage therapy. After moving from New York, she needed to rebuild her client base and adapt her marketing and management approach to a new market, which presented a challenge for growing the business.

SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty helped by guiding Marcus on defining employee roles and running team-building exercises with her staff. With support from SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty, the studio improved morale and increased revenues, won 44 awards in six years, doubled its space from 1,200 to 2,400 square feet, opened a second location, and began considering a third.
