Dynamic Dragon Boat Racing, LLC, based in Knoxville, Tennessee, faced the challenge of reviving a struggling business and expanding its customer base. With the help of SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty, owner Penny Behling explored whether buying out her partner and growing the business was the right move, while also identifying new markets for dragon boat racing events and rentals.

SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty worked with Behling to build a business plan and use market analysis to target any city with a body of water, rather than only Tennessee River cities. As a result, Dynamic Dragon Boat Racing increased the number of events it managed from three in 2008 to ten in 2011, added new equipment, and helped raise more than $200,000 for charities in 2010 alone.
