Casauri, founded by Emily and Helena McHugh in Fort Pierce, Florida, grew out of a business school class project into a real startup, but the sisters needed help turning an idea for designer laptop cases, Palm Pilot cases, and custom handbags into a viable business. SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty provided guidance as they faced challenges with business planning, financing, and getting their products ready for market.

With support from SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty, Casauri received help refining its business plan, applying for loans, navigating international trade and shipping, and improving marketing and e-commerce efforts. The result was a successful launch of the product line in time for the 2001 holiday season, placement in notable New York retailers such as Bloomingdale’s and Sony Style, and continued growth, including an SBA ARC loan in 2010 and ongoing mentor support to strengthen its web presence and sales.
