Anita’s Biscottis, owned by Anita Skrocki in Reading, Pennsylvania, started as a home-based baking hobby to bring in extra income while raising three young children. Her challenge was turning that small kitchen operation into a real business, including creating a business plan, building a website, and finding a sustainable path to growth.

SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty helped Anita’s Biscottis through mentor support from Chet Shoop and later Larry Rush, who guided Skrocki on planning, organization, goal-setting, problem-solving, and smart expansion. With SCORE Mentors Berks and Schuylkill Cty’s help, the business grew from a one-woman operation to two employees, expanded into wholesale biscotti sales, and even launched a sister location, Anita’s On Walnut Cafe & Bakery, with plans to move into a commercial bakery.
