IBM Security QRADAR SIEM Integration With SMS Gateway For A Kenyan Bank

Kenyan Bank, a financial institution in Kenya with more than 6 million accounts and assets totaling $3+ bn, needed a way to respond to security alerts more quickly. Its information security team wanted IBM Security QRadar SIEM integration with an SMS gateway so it could receive offense details by text when a correlation rule was triggered.

ScienceSoft designed and developed a SOAP-based Python solution that monitored QRadar, extracted offense and rule details, and sent SMS messages to mobile numbers defined in the rule description. ScienceSoft also provided a configuration manual to help the bank integrate the solution with its QRadar console, giving security administrators a way to send instant notifications that work without Internet access and to include details such as offense category, source IP, and username.
