British University wanted to introduce distance learning to reduce expenses and make education available to more students. The university needed a web-oriented software solution from ScienceSoft to automate educational processes, including tests and exams, and support online communication between students and academic staff. It started with the modules for creating, running, and managing assessment tests, and the university provided only several use cases rather than full functional requirements documentation.

ScienceSoft used an iterative two-phase approach to build the online learning portal. The first phase focused on test creation and execution, while the second added feedback analysis and the remaining functionality, including tests creation and statistics analysis. ScienceSoft delivered the final version ahead of schedule, helped the university meet internal deadlines, saved part of the project budget, and continues maintaining the product with online training and certification features.
