A Science Warehouse Case Study

The University of Queensland - Customer Case Study

The University of Queensland (UQ), one of Australia’s leading universities, needed a simpler way for academic and support staff to find and order high-turnover, routine, low-risk, low-value items. UQ wanted a single, seamless, automated “one-stop shop” for consumables and equipment, with better transparency, compliance, and integration with its existing PeopleSoft ERP. Science Warehouse provided the eMarketplace solution to meet these procurement needs.

Science Warehouse implemented the eMarketplace in a phased rollout, starting with the Faculty of Science before expanding to all staff and postgraduate students. The platform now supports 1,900 active users and access to 2.5 million products, averaging 3,000 purchase orders per month, with eInvoicing set to create touchless processing into ERP. UQ reported major efficiency gains, cutting procurement steps from 15 to 7 and ultimately to 4 with eInvoicing, saving around 75% of users’ time, improving visibility and price uniformity, and delivering measurable savings such as $60,000 in one month for a single supplier.
