A SCIA Case Study
The customer, VK, a multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm, faced the challenge of designing the uniquely shaped Möbius Towers in Belgium. Their task was complicated by the need to build on an existing foundation slab with a limited construction height. VK utilized SCIA Engineer from vendor SCIA to analyze the global stability and design the complex structure.
SCIA Engineer provided the solution by serving as the central design and analysis tool. It was used to calculate tower deformations, check wind comfort, and create a reference model for load take down within a BIM workflow. The Revit link facilitated practical modeling of the steel structure. This implementation by SCIA enabled the successful creation of two elliptical towers offering 62,000 m² of office space and a 300-space underground parking garage.
