A SCIA Case Study
The customer, Snoeck Gebrs NV, faced the challenge of constructing a complex multifunctional technology visitors centre for a leading weaving technology company. The project involved three distinct substructures with specific complexities, including long-span trusses for a showroom, integrating extensive technology in a visitors centre, and ensuring stability for cantilevered offices. SCIA and its SCIA Engineer software were used to address these architectural and engineering challenges under a strict timeline.
SCIA implemented a solution that leveraged the smart time-saving functionalities of SCIA Engineer. This included using load panels, a 3D wind generator compliant with Eurocode, and importing dwg-layers for efficient modeling. The software's IFC-model export was crucial for BIM collaboration, enabling effective internal checks, exchange with third parties for prefabricated elements, and clash detection with piping and other techniques. This approach allowed SCIA to help the customer successfully harmonize structural necessities with architectural aspirations for the project.
