A SCIA Case Study
GTS Mannheim urgently needed a low-cost, quickly-built weather-protected space for truck maintenance at their new production site. Their challenge was to create this structure using recycled containers as walls with a light roof above. SCIA provided its SCIA Engineer software to design and model this unique solution.
Using SCIA Engineer, the entire structure, including the container walls with openings and the steel-wooden beam roof, was modeled and calculated according to second-order theory. The software provided critical feedback on the roof-container connections and necessary wall reinforcements, and all execution drawings were created within it. SCIA's solution enabled the successful construction of a 430 m² hall that provided 320 m³ of storage space and 1,700 m³ of maintenance space, meeting the client's urgent need for a fast and economical build.
