Allcons Industry s.r.o designs 900 t solar tower steel structure with SCIA

Allcons Industry S.r.o., an engineering company, was charged with designing the steel Molten Salt Receiver for the world's highest Concentrated Solar Power tower. Their challenge was to model the entire 260-meter high structure to account for complex loads, seismicity, and aerodynamic instabilities. They utilized SCIA Engineer software from vendor SCIA to accomplish this intricate design work.

The solution implemented with SCIA involved creating a comprehensive model of the tower, including non-linear supports for the lifting process. SCIA's results were validated against other engineering firms and wind tunnel measurements to confirm the structure's safety. This highly technical project, which resulted in a successful design for a 100 MW facility that will reduce carbon emissions by 1.6 million tons annually, was the winner of the SCIA User Contest 2020.
