Washington State University boosts campus resiliency with SEL after 20-year PLC upgrade
Washington State University faced a challenge with its aging campus power infrastructure. The programmable logic controller for its microgrid, originally installed in 2000, had become difficult to maintain due to a lack of technical support, spare parts, and documentation. Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) evaluated the system and recommended its powerMAX Power Management and Control System as a solution.
SEL implemented its powerMAX solution, which involved installing new panels and integrating SEL equipment with the existing system. This microgrid control system provides seamless islanding and reliable control.
