SEL Meter Helps Data Center Supply High-Quality, Uninterrupted Power

Vantage Data Centers, a wholesale data center provider in Santa Clara, needed a reliable, utility-grade way to meter energy use and monitor power quality while meeting ANSI and public utility commission standards. Since metering is a core competitive advantage for Vantage, the company turned to Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) for a solution that could help keep costs low, maintain transparency with customers, and ensure continuously available, high-quality power.

SEL provided the SEL-735 Power Quality and Revenue Meter, an ANSI 0.1 accuracy class-compliant meter that measures both revenue and power quality data. Vantage uses the meters to track harmonics, power factor, and other quality indicators, and the waveform capture feature helps identify the cause of trip events more quickly. SEL’s support and proactive firmware updates also helped keep the system current, giving Vantage a single-device metering solution that supports mission-critical reliability and faster problem resolution.
