Making 1:1 Learning a Reality and a Success

Minnetonka Public School District, a high-performing district near Minneapolis serving about 10,000 students and 700 teachers, launched a district-wide 1:1 iPad initiative to modernize instruction and make digital content accessible anytime. The challenge was finding an intuitive, scalable learning management system that would centralize resources, streamline communication and assessment, minimize staff training, and support collaboration across elementary, middle and high schools.

Minnetonka adopted Schoology as the district’s LMS hub: teachers post lesson materials, quizzes and assignments; students download work, submit via Dropbox, receive feedback, and collaborate through messaging and discussion boards; parents can subscribe to calendar feeds. The result was a smooth 1:1 rollout with strong teacher and student adoption, improved formative assessment and differentiated instruction, increased engagement and online collaboration, and operational savings from cloud hosting and reduced training and server costs.
