Using Social Learning to Improve Student Outcomes

Ceres High School, located in Ceres, CA, wanted to improve student outcomes by building academic motivation and school climate. Assistant principal Ed Pelfrey said many students, especially freshmen and sophomores, struggled to stay motivated because they did not always see examples of academic success around them.

To support that work, Ceres High School used SchoolMint Hero for two years to recognize positive behavior, encourage participation, and automate the tardy slip process. The school said 75% of staff are now using SchoolMint Hero, 75% of teachers are implementing supportive learning practices, and its suspension rate fell from 25% three years ago to under 6%; the district then rolled out SchoolMint Hero across the entire district.
