Using Equitable Enrollment and Accessibility to Grow a Diverse Student Body

Crosstown High School, a public charter school in Memphis, Tennessee, opened in 2018 with a mission to be diverse by design. As the school grew, its leaders needed an enrollment process that was fair, transparent, and equitable, while also allowing them to report to state officials on the accessibility of their lottery system. To support that work, they turned to SchoolMint for lottery and enrollment management.

With SchoolMint’s enrollment platform, Crosstown High School could manage waitlists, application priority levels, secure documentation online, and communicate with families about status updates and missing information. The school also used SchoolMint’s reporting tools for state reporting and media requests. Since partnering with SchoolMint, Crosstown High has grown from 150 students in Year 1 to 489 students in the 2023–2024 school year, while maintaining a diverse student body that is approximately 52% African American, 30–35% Caucasian, and 13–18% Hispanic and mixed.
