A SchoolMint Case Study
Show Me KC Schools, a nonprofit in Kansas City formed to help families navigate 90+ K–12 options, confronted a fragmented enrollment landscape where a typical kindergartner faced about 25 school choices and roughly 23 different application processes. Those varied deadlines, documents, and formats created time and equity barriers for families, so Show Me KC Schools partnered with SchoolMint to create a common, online application and shared timeline (branded locally as SchoolAppKC).
SchoolMint’s shared application platform powered SchoolAppKC for 16 of the city’s 22 charter schools, delivering measurable gains: roughly 4,200 applications by early March (nearly matching the prior year’s 4,300 by August 1), 84% of early applicants represented ethnicities other than Caucasian, and schools saw rapid uptake (17 apps within two minutes of launch). SchoolMint’s technology and support enabled a single-accept model, earlier, clearer rosters, direct family outreach via phone/email, and scalable onboarding — all improving access, transparency, and enrollment stability.
