A SchoolMint Case Study
San Leandro Unified School District needed to stabilize student enrollment after it began declining in 2016, which also put funding at risk. Families were spending hours in line to enroll, and neighboring districts were attracting students through inter-district transfer because the process was too hard to access. The district turned to SchoolMint and its registration and enrollment platform to make enrollment easier for families and more efficient for staff.
With SchoolMint, the district moved enrollment online, used a mobile-accessible multilingual system, and allowed families to use phone numbers instead of email. During COVID-19, San Leandro Unified School District kept enrollment operations moving with minimal changes, including uploading selfies with IDs and birth certificates through the platform instead of visiting campus. Enrollment rose from 8,542 in 2015–2016 to 9,067 in 2019–2020, and the district said the increase led to four million in additional funding.
