Case Study: New London Public Schools achieves 18% enrollment growth and financial stability with SchoolMint

A SchoolMint Case Study

Preview of the New London Public Schools Case Study

How one district returned from the financial brink and is now stronger than ever

New London Public Schools faced a financial crisis after 2012 when the district risked state takeover due to chronic funding shortfalls tied to limited local property tax revenue. To secure more state aid the district needed to grow enrollment by attracting students from neighboring towns and became Connecticut’s first interdistrict all-magnet district; to do that effectively they required robust outreach and a data-rich application and lottery system. SchoolMint was engaged to support that effort.

SchoolMint provided an Application and Lottery Management tool and conversion-funnel analytics that let New London track applicants in real time, dissect data by every application field, and target outreach to underrepresented towns or grades. Using SchoolMint’s platform as part of a year-round enrollment strategy (and co-developing a handbook on the practice), New London achieved four straight years of growth and an 18% increase in total enrollment since 2012–2013, helping stabilize finances and enabling the district to build new schools.
