UPS's new Smart Hub can process 104,000 parcels per hour with help from EcoStruxureThi solutions

UPS needed to modernize its parcel operations to keep pace with surging e-commerce demand, building a Smart Hub capable of processing 104,000 packages per hour while controlling more than 15 miles of conveyor belts and adapting existing machine controls and power-distribution systems. To meet this challenge UPS partnered with Schneider Electric, leveraging the EcoStruxure platform and modernization services to bring scalable, connected automation and power solutions to the facility.

Schneider Electric implemented EcoStruxure’s Apps, Analytics & Services, Edge Control (PacDrive controllers, Momentum I/O) and Connected Products (Altivar Machine, Lexium 62, Magelis HMIs, APC UPS, Square D power equipment), delivering real-time remote data for predictive maintenance and operational insight. The solution enabled UPS to hit the 104,000 packages-per-hour target while improving reliability, simplifying processes, increasing process efficiency and reducing energy usage—driving more agile decision-making and measurable performance gains.
