A Schneider Electric Case Study
Shanghai Metro, which carries nearly 10 million passengers a day and serves 52% of the city’s residents, faced growing operational complexity as its network expanded: confined station electrical systems needing uninterrupted power, tighter environmental controls (temperature, humidity, ventilation, lighting), higher emergency and fault‑tolerance requirements, fragmented data collection between systems, and rising O&M costs. To address these challenges, Shanghai Metro partnered with Schneider Electric and deployed its IoT‑enabled EcoStruxure platform, including EcoStruxure Power, BAS (building automation), ISCS and field/spare‑parts services.
Schneider Electric implemented an integrated solution across Connected Products, Edge Control and Apps, Analytics & Services—installing LV/MV power systems for electrical stability, BAS for environmental monitoring and automation, integrated IT/OT management, on‑site emergency support and a spare‑parts logistics package. The Schneider Electric solution delivered improved operational efficiency, asset performance and sustainability, greater electrical reliability and safety, faster emergency maintenance and spare‑parts supply, and a more comfortable, reliable experience for millions of daily passengers.
