A Schneider Electric Case Study
Lidl Finland partnered with Schneider Electric to build a future-proof, BREEAM-compliant distribution centre that runs on 100% renewable energy. The challenge was to power the facility from renewable sources, enable participation in the demand-response market via self-produced energy, and optimise energy use to cut CO2 emissions and costs — goals addressed using Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure™ Microgrid, EcoStruxure Building Operation and EcoStruxure Microgrid Advisor solutions.
Schneider Electric implemented an integrated EcoStruxure Grid and EcoStruxure Building solution combining a comprehensive building management system, energy storage and a smart microgrid with predictive analytics. The system captures and stores excess cooling heat for later use, optimises on-site resources in real time, and delivered a net-positive logistics centre with up to 70% energy cost savings, a new efficiency benchmark for Lidl Finland and Finland’s first combined heating-and-cooling storage system.
