SOMIC, a machine builder in the competitive packaging market, needed to cut costs and time-to-market while delivering ultra-compact, high‑availability machines with built‑in preventive maintenance and augmented‑reality service. To meet these challenges they partnered with Schneider Electric, adopting EcoStruxure Machine solutions including EcoStruxure Machine Expert, PacDrive LMC Pro, Harmony Edge Box and EcoStruxure Augmented Operator Advisor.

Schneider Electric implemented a digital‑twin design and a smart control stack (Lexium servo drives, Edge control and augmented‑reality operator tools) so SOMIC could develop an almost cabinet‑less, high‑performance coffee capsule packer. The result: twice the output in half the footprint, processing 1,400 coffee capsules (140 cartons) per minute, 40% energy management savings, faster diagnostics and reduced downtime through EcoStruxure Augmented Operator Advisor, and shorter time to market.
