How green and digital MV technology boosts the Flins factory’s sustainable operations

Renault Group converted its Flins, France site into the Refactory with the ambition of becoming Europe’s first circular‑economy mobility factory and achieving a negative CO2 balance by 2030. The project needed greener medium‑voltage electrical equipment without compromising power reliability or cybersecurity, so Renault Group partnered with Schneider Electric to deploy SF6‑free, digitized MV solutions.

Schneider Electric supplied SM AirSeT SF6‑free medium‑voltage switchgear (with pure‑air insulation and shunt vacuum interruption) and integrated digital monitoring via EcoStruxure. The installation in the emergency backup network eliminates use of SF6 (removing the need for complex gas recycling), simplifies installation and dismantling, enables 24/7 remote monitoring and predictive maintenance, strengthens cybersecurity, lowers total cost of ownership, and directly supports Renault Group’s circular‑economy and decarbonization objectives.
