Case Study: Veolia Water achieves up to 15% energy savings and 20% production efficiency improvement with Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure for Water & Wastewater

A Schneider Electric Case Study

Preview of the Veolia Water Case Study

How EcoStruxureTM for Water & Wastewater optimizes water treatment processes and energy consumption for the benefit of the local community and the environment

Veolia Water was contracted to build a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant at Punta Gradelle on the Sorrento coast to protect residents and the environment after existing disposal practices and non-compliant facilities threatened the coastline. Facing strict regulatory and sustainability goals — including reuse of recovered materials and the need for reliable, tunnel-based operations — Veolia Water sought an advanced supervision and control system and partnered with Schneider Electric, leveraging EcoStruxure for Water & Wastewater and EcoStruxure Hybrid DCS.

Schneider Electric implemented a holistic EcoStruxure solution — including Hybrid DCS, Plant Operations & Energy Management, MV & LV power meters, Altivar drives and iPMCC panels — to centralize real-time data, enable edge control and support predictive maintenance. The deployment delivered measurable impact: up to 15% annual energy savings, a 20% improvement in production efficiency, reduced downtime and faster response times, and improved overall service reliability.
