How EcoStruxure™ for Food & Beverage improves the traceability of cleaning and production processes

Nestlé Waters’ Perrier plant in Vergèze, France — with 13 production lines and hundreds of metres of piping — needed to improve its clean‑in‑place (CIP) process to protect product quality, meet food‑safety traceability requirements, and reduce the large amount of downtime (traditionally about 20% of working time) and operating cost this caused. To address this, Nestlé Waters worked with Schneider Electric and adopted the EcoStruxure Clean‑In‑Place Advisor as part of the EcoStruxure for Food & Beverage offering.

Schneider Electric implemented EcoStruxure CIP Advisor to monitor and fine‑tune cleaning cycles, integrate CIP data with existing WonderWare systems, and simplify diagnostics, commissioning and maintenance. The solution cut CIP downtime and cleaning time by up to 20%, reduced water, chemical and energy use (saving about 340 t CO2 — roughly 50% less than average — on some lines in the first year), improved traceability and compliance, and trimmed operating costs.
