How cloud industrial IoT solution, powered by EcoStruxure™ Industry, enables irrigation monitoring and control from mobile devices to improve operational agility, efficiency, and sustainability

WaterForce, a New Zealand provider of smart irrigation and water-management services, needed a simple, low‑CAPEX way to help farmers monitor and control geographically dispersed irrigation and wastewater assets, meet strict regulatory reporting requirements, and improve water and energy efficiency. To achieve this, WaterForce partnered with Schneider Electric and leveraged Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure™ Industry architecture to develop a cloud‑based IIoT solution.

Using Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure platform (ClearSCADA, SCADAPack hardware, Altivar drives) and Wonderware Online on Microsoft Azure, WaterForce built SCADAfarm — a mobile-accessible portal that delivers real‑time control, analytics, alerts and historical reporting. Schneider Electric’s solution gave farmers remote pivot control and visibility, reduced energy use (farmers reported up to 50% energy‑cost reductions in the first season), cut travel time for inspections, simplified compliance reporting, and enabled WaterForce to add remote monitoring and benchmarking services at scale.
