Digitizing and automating traditional processes with EcoStruxure for Food & Beverage

Mulino Marino, a family-run stone-milling business in Cossano Belbo, Italy, sought to digitize and automate its traditional processes to increase production capacity, preserve artisanal quality, and maintain its 100% organic certification while meeting growing demand. To achieve this, the company turned to Schneider Electric and its EcoStruxure for Food & Beverage platform to modernize control, recipe management, traceability, and energy monitoring.

Schneider Electric, working with Alliance partner Euro Beta, deployed an EcoStruxure solution using Modicon M340 PLCs, Harmony HMIs/iPC, Altivar drives, Modicon MCM safety controllers, Com’X data logging and Edge Box technologies to automate loading, mixing, rolling and bagging and centralize visibility. The implementation delivered secured business continuity, automated recipe control and full product traceability, optimized production and energy efficiency (including PV monitoring), official certification for process and energy optimization, and futureproofed operations and skills for Mulino Marino.
