Building a state-of-the-art smart plant with EcoStruxure™ for Oil, Gas, & Petrochemicals

Hubei Sanning Chemical Industry Co faced a major digital transformation challenge: upgrading its 600,000 t/y ethylene glycol plant into a smart, safe and sustainable “plant for the ages” while meeting strict safety, stability and environmental goals and reducing operating costs. To achieve this, Hubei Sanning partnered with Schneider Electric and adopted its EcoStruxure for Oil, Gas & Petrochemicals architecture, including EcoStruxure Triconex safety systems and integrated automation and power distribution solutions.

Schneider Electric delivered an end-to-end EcoStruxure solution—combining Triconex Safety Instrumented Systems, medium and low-voltage power distribution hardware, Altivar drives and AVEVA industrial software (including Operator Training Simulator and Asset Information Management)—to integrate process automation, power and digital twins. The deployment enabled remote operator training and faster commissioning, improved operational and maintenance efficiency, boosted workforce efficiency by 25–30%, cut energy consumption by about 5%, increased power supply continuity and delivered safer, more stable, future-proofed operations.
