ABUS Crane Systems - Customer Case Study

ABUS Crane Systems, a leading European crane manufacturer producing more than 5,000 cranes a year, faced the challenge of delivering highly customized cranes quickly and consistently while enabling digital capabilities for preventive maintenance and global service. To meet these needs ABUS partnered with Schneider Electric, leveraging the EcoStruxure Machine portfolio to standardize modules and accelerate development across many crane variants.

Schneider Electric implemented a modular solution—ABUControl—built on EcoStruxure Machine with Modicon controllers, Altivar drives (including regenerative units), safety and I/O components, and machine engineering tools, enabling two standard modules to cover simple to complex crane architectures. The result was faster, higher-quality series production and larger volumes, higher crane availability with reduced downtime, support for IIoT-based predictive maintenance, and energy savings of up to 40% thanks to Schneider Electric’s regenerative drive technology.
