Supercharging App Ordering with 5x Faster Scanning

Elektro-Material AG, Switzerland’s market leader in electrical installations, needed to improve the slow scanning performance in its EM order app, which was using an open source scanning component. The delays were hurting the customer experience and pushing some users back to phone or branch ordering. Scandit provided the barcode scanner SDK, along with OCR and MatrixScan-AR capabilities, to speed up and modernize the app.

With Scandit, Elektro-Material AG achieved approximately 5x faster scanning, enabling quicker order processing and a smoother mobile experience. The app surpassed 95,000 scans in three months, up from 112,000 scans over the previous 12 months, and now supports more than 15,000 customers regularly scanning and purchasing through the EM app. Scandit also helped improve engagement and customer stickiness through augmented reality overlays and support for serial-number capture.
