A Scandit Case Study
SunPower, a leading solar technology and energy services provider, needed to improve the speed and accuracy of its solar system commissioning process. Its previous method relied on powerline broadcast discovery, which could be slow, prone to signal interference, and sometimes caused incorrect device associations, creating extra work for technicians and installers. SunPower turned to Scandit’s barcode scanning technology, using MatrixScan in its SunPower Pro Connect commissioning app.
Scandit implemented smart data capture to let technicians scan barcode labels on microinverters quickly and accurately, even in difficult conditions. The new workflow cut commissioning time from up to 60 minutes to just under 20 minutes, eliminated data errors, and saved about 10 minutes in paperwork. Today, more than 70% of SunPower’s commissioning technicians use the Scandit-powered app, with broader rollout planned.
